| Dolly is not my idea of the perfect broodmare. She is stand-offish and extremely protective of her foals for the first couple of weeks, which makes imprinting impossible. I have built a tenuous relationship with her, but she prefers my husband's attention. She does have gorgeous babies with nice solid builds and good minds that come quickly to being handled once she relaxes enough to let us at them. Though we have had two foals from her,because of the difficulties we have imprinting her foals, we've chosen to use her instead of breed her. She is my husband's favorite mare so this was what he'd wanted all along! |
